Psalm 18:2 King David’s Relationship With God

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. (KJV)


The definitions below give a better in in King David’s relationship with God. This verse can also be a blue print for us as well.


  1. Rock: As stronghold of Jehovah, of security (figuratively). (BRB)

  2. Fortress: castle, defence, fort (-ress), (strong) hold. (Strongs)

  3. Deliverer: to escape, save, deliver, slip away. To bring into security, bring to safety. (BRB)

  4. My God: My mighty and powerful God. (BRB)

  5. My Strength: My Rock (of God). (BRB)

  6. Trust: To seek refuge, flee for protection. To put trust in (God), confide or hope in (God) (figuratively). (BRB)

  7. Buckler: a shield (that is, the small one or buckler); figuratively a protector. (Strongs)

  8. Horn: figuratively strength & power. (BRB & Strongs)

  9. Salvation: deliverance, salvation, rescue, safety, welfare, prosperity, victory. (BRB)

  10. High Tower: 1) high place, refuge, secure height, retreat (noun masculine), stronghold, refuge (of God). (BRB)
